Deltek: API Set-Up Guide

Currently, our team at Kantiv manages the configuration and maintenance of your integration directly. To establish a new connection or adjust your existing setup, please reach out to Integrations@kantiv.com. These management tools are part of our roadmap and will be available for self-service in a future release.

This guide outlines the steps to set up API access between Deltek Vantagepoint and Kantiv.


Step 1: Generate API Credentials in Deltek Vantagepoint

For Vantagepoint Version 5.0 and Above

1. In the Navigation pane, navigate to Integrations > API Authorization.

2. Click New API Authorization.

3. Provide a descriptive name for the integration, e.g., Kantiv Integration.

4. Set the Scopes option to Match Role Access.

5. Enter the Callback URL: https://app.kantiv.com?callback=deltek

6. Enable the Allow Password Grant Type option.

7. Save the integration.

8. Note the following credentials displayed after saving:

  • Client ID (Consumer Key)

  • Client Secret

  • Database Name

For Versions Prior to 5.0

1. In the Navigation pane, navigate to Utilities > Integrations > API Authorization.

2. Click New API Authorization.

3. Enter the Callback URL: https://app.kantiv.com?callback=deltek

4. After saving, note down the following credentials:

   - Client ID

   - Client Secret

   - Database Name


Step 2: Create a New Role with Required Permissions

  1. Navigate to Security > Roles

    1. Access the role management section in your Deltek Vantagepoint system.

  1. Create a new role of type Administrator

    1. Set up a dedicated administrator role for the integration.

  2. Assign minimum required permissions

    1. Hub → Employees

    2. Hub → Contacts

    3. Hub → Clients

    4. Hub → Proposals/Projects

  3. Configure company access

    1. Ensure this role has appropriate access rights to all necessary companies.


Step 3: Create a New User for Kantiv

User Creation Steps

  1. Navigate to Security > Users.

  2. Create a new user with the following settings:

    1.    Username: KantivAI

    2.    Status: Active

    3.    Uncheck the "Force User to Reset Password at Next Login" option.

Ensure the password reset option is disabled to allow seamless API authentication without manual intervention.

Assign the previously created role to this user.

Ensure the following details are readily available for integration configuration within Kantiv:

  • Database Name

For On-Premises Deployments: For on-premises deployments of Vantagepoint, ensure you whitelist the IP address of Kantiv servers. These IP addresses will be provided upon request.
